Hops extract dosing with Endress + Hauser Promass Coriolis meter

What is measured and for what reason:

For automation purposes, more and more breweries use hops extract. This hops extract is delivered in cans or containers and needs to be mixed with hot water before it is dosed into the wort kettle.

Why is it special:

Hop is the most expensive brewing material and is extremely bitter. Therefore the dosing system needs to be very accurate. The system is flushed with hot water after every operation. The extract is very sticky which means cleaning the system is very important to ensure accurate measurement.

How can it be solved best:

As well the Promass I with the straight tube, but also the Promass F sensor is used for this application with a very good success. Endress+Hauser offers a family of Coriolis meters. Either the single, straight tube I sensor or the general purpose F sensor are recommended for this application.
