Codex Alimentarius
The Codex Alimentarius was created in 1963 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). It is currently accepted by 165 countries.
Definitions for food safety
The objective is to define a basis for food safety, which facilitates fair international trade. The known international standards were coordinated for this purpose.
Either as law or a "private" standard, the Codex is often recognized as a minimum requirement.
