UK research and innovation strategy for campylobacter in the food chain

Thursday 29 July 2010

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) have announced a joint funding call to support research that will underpin the needs of policy and industry action aiming to reduce levels of the food poisoning bug campylobacter in the food chain and ultimately reducing infections in humans.

This call is part of the joint research strategy being delivered by the three partner organisations that is looking at both fundamental and applied research support of the campylobacter strategy. There are some specific research needs identified within the call document for which it is likely that FSA/Defra will be the lead funder, but all funders are interested in receiving applications from interested parties in relation to the range of issues highlighted in the call notice.
