Commission launches consultation on fees for EFSA

Food and Feed Safety

The Health and Consumer Protection Directorate General (DG SANCO) of the European Commission launched on 15 November, a consultation to gather the views of interested parties on the possibility of enabling the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to receive fees for processing authorisation files.

The consultation paper will be used as a basis for discussion by DG SANCO’s Advisory Group on the Food Chain and Animal and Plant Health. It will also form the basis for detailed discussions with EFSA and EU Member States.

General comments may be made, but the Commission would request contributors to adhere to the structure of the paper and to respond to the questions raised under 4.3 and 5.3 of the consultation paper.
